Check In and Check Out Hours

Dogs and cats may be dropped off or picked up seven days a week between 9:00 – 10:00 in the morning and 4:00 – 5:00 in the afternoon, except on Thanksgiving and Christmas days. A specific appointment may be outside of these hours, if staff is available. No pets will be checked out after 5:00.

Dogs new to Bed & Bone must be dropped off either in the morning or between 3:30 and 4:00 in the afternoon. No dogs new to Bed & Bone will be accepted for boarding after 4:00pm as we need time before closing to insure your dog is settled comfortably. For those of you coming from out of town, please plan your travel time to arrive in the area with ample time to spare.

For out-of-town visitors, dogs may be picked up in the morning after their walk and breakfast for a day's adventure, then returned in the late afternoon for dinner and a night's rest.

Quarters

All dogs have a cozy inside room with all day access to a covered run with a redwood deck for lounging. The larger dogs are housed in the cheerful main kennel and quieter annex while the smaller dogs have their own light and bright kennel.

The cats have quiet large multi-level kennels looking out over the front yard.

Calming and soothing music is played throughout the day.

Food

Dogs are fed as close to their home schedule as possible. We feed a quality lamb and rice kibble mixed with a similar quality canned food.

Cats are fed a high quality kibble free choice with canned food offered twice daily.

Kibble from home may be brought in a zip-lock bag clearly labeled with your dog's or cat's name and feeding amounts. Please advise us in advance if you will be providing raw or homemade food so that we may plan for adequate storage.

Medications

If your dog or cat requires medication, our staff will administer appropriate doses. Medication must be provided in its original container with current instructions clearly noted. No extra charge will be made for simple administration of pills.

Vaccinations

Dogs must have proof of current vaccinations for DAPPL, rabies and kennel cough. Cats must have proof current vaccinations for feline distemper, rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and rabies.

We strongly recommend dogs be vaccinated for kennel cough using either the Fort Dodge Bronchi-Shield III intra-nasal or the Boehringer oral vaccine Bronchi-Shield ORAL.

Bedding and Toys

Bed & Bone will provide fresh clean bedding for your dog or cat. You may bring an appropriately sized soft washable bed or blanket, if desired. All personal possessions must be labeled with your name – and although every effort will be made to return belongings in the same condition as they arrive, Bed & Bone is not responsible for any lost or damaged items.

Flea and Tick Prevention

All pets must be free of parasites on arrival, and we highly recommend all pets be on a regular flea and tick prevention program. Any pet found to be harboring fleas or ticks will be bathed at the owner's expense and may be treated with a pesticide.

For Their Comfort and Beauty

Grooming by patient, experienced groomers is available at Bed & Bone by appointment. Please call for information or to discuss availability when your boarding reservation is made.

Emergency Veterinary Care

We require that you provide a telephone number where you can be reached while your pet is boarding with us. If this is not possible, you must leave a telephone number of someone authorized to make important medical (and perhaps financial) decisions on your behalf.

Should your pet require emergency medical attention, we will contact a local veterinarian for stabilization, while at the same time do our best to contact you for further instruction. If transportation for emergency care is necessary, an additional charge will be added to your bill.

Cancellations

If you cancel your boarding reservations in a timely manner and we can fill your spot from our waiting list, no charges will be made. If you find you must cancel at the last minute during a time of high demand, however, and we are unable to fill your spot from our waiting list, you will be charged for any days we are unable to book.

While this situation rarely occurs, we may regretfully decline to board your dog for excessive barking or destructiveness.

Thank you for your interest in Bed & Bone!

We look forward to serving you and your pet.
